Autumn Climate Gathering
Saturday 25th November, 12:00pm - 3:30pm
Are you worried about climate change? Do you want to do something about it but don’t know what? Transition Southampton would like to invite you to their inaugural Autumn Climate Gathering - a gathering of people who want to make a difference. The event is open to all individuals and groups around Southampton who are involved in working towards a greener, better Southampton and a better future for our beautiful planet. There’s no agenda, it’s just an opportunity to gather, meet and share. Share our concerns (it’s been a difficult year!), share our successes, and share our hopes and dreams for a better future.
Do come along, even if it’s just for an hour. There will be drinks and a few nibbles. Feel free to bring a small edible contribution if you wish but it’s not expected or required. Please RSVP here
If you can’t make it along to the event but would like a book purchase that will give you some hope amongst all the bad news then do try the following
From What is to What If by Rob Hopkins is an eclectic collection of true stories from around the world of people doing things differently. From education to health care, the book documents imaginative ways that we continue to flourish within planetary boundaries
If you want some classic fiction, then perhaps Island from Aldous Huxley will fit the bill. The tale of a utopian island society, with very different values to those in todays modern cultures. The book offers an imaginative model of a different way to live and is as relevant today as 1962 when it was written.
For younger readers perhaps the story of Leila and the Blue fox will inspire, based on the true story of a 2000 mile journey from Norway to Canada. Enjoy!
