Have you written a book and hope that we can stock it?

Before you send us anything, please think about the following questions in regards to your book and our shop:

Does your book fit with our existing selection? We spend a lot of time curating our selection to be able to sell and recommend books with enthusiasm. Will we be able to do this with your book? We have a strong left wing history, so we will not stock anything at odds with our political standards.

Is your book visually beautiful? It's important not to judge books by their covers in general life, but unfortunately the aesthetic value of your book will influence its success on a bookshop shelf. Given this, we are only interested in books that have a professional and quality feel to them.

Is your book self-published? If you have self-published through Amazon, unfortunately we cannot accept it (Amazon being the sworn enemy of all independent bookshops). If you have self published in a more economically and environmentally sustainable way, then we are open to having a look.

Does it have an ISBN and/or a barcode? This is important so that we can easily put transactions through the till.

How can we order your book? If it's available through Gardners or another wholesaler it's a lot easier for us to re-order once we've sold a copy. We can order directly from you, but this would ordinarily be on a sale-or-return basis.

Once you are sure that your book suits us, please feel free to email us at info@octoberbooks.org.

Please don't drop books in to us unless we have asked you to. If we don't decide to stock your book please do not think this is a personal reflection on you or your work, we are a small shop and we can only hold so much.
