Unwrap Poetry this Christmas
Share
A book of poetry is not just for Christmas. But it does go nicely under the tree, especially if you are totally lost for gift ideas.
Wendy is known for her concise and moving prose, her most famous poem 'The Orange' is often known to eclipse her other works, so make sure you are not missing out and grab this book that I am sure will take you on a special journey.
Let the Light Pour In by Lemn Sissay
After my wonderful colleagues saw Lemn Sissay on his book tour of Let the Light Pour In, it has been a firm shop favourite. A great collection of his work both to gift someone you love or to read aloud to each other. This collection is made up from a decade of poems Lemn wrote every morning as as the sun rose. Life affirming and witty.
Poems : 1962–2020 by Louise Gluck
Louise Gluck is one of my personal favourites, I discovered her work after finding a copy of a book of her's called 'Averno' lodged between two other books so tight that I could hardly pull it loose. I inhaled the first few poems and quite frankly became frightened by the sheer magnitude of her talent. This book would be a fantastic companion to any poets or writers in your life, so check their shelves and make sure you add it to their wish list if this book is nowhere to be seen!
And finally... If you aren't already joining us on Friday the 20th of December for an evening for poetry, partying, and general good times then definitely check your dairies and see if you are free to join us. Tickets on sale now click here to bag yours early ;)
