Celebrating our Indie Publishers in Indie Bookshop Week

Celebrating our Indie Publishers in Indie Bookshop Week

One of the greatest joys of being an independent bookshop is the wonderful range of titles from independent publishers we get to celebrate — books you might not find on every high street shelf. From fresh and imaginative fiction, to non-fiction that isn’t afraid to ask challenging questions of our unjust political and social systems.  Indie publishers also prioritise books with  literary excellence or new voices over purely commercial considerations, offering a different route for authors to be published outside of the main publishing houses. We love championing the rich diversity of independent publishing.

We stock a wide array of indie publishers, including And Other Stories, Pluto Press, Prototype, Seven Stories Press and Fitzcarraldo Editions.

We were delighted to host Jen Calleja in store last week to talk about her latest book Fair the Life — Art of Translation, published by Prototype.

We’re planning a series of posts to highlight some of the remarkable fiction and non-fiction we stock from indie publishers — watch this space!
