Let's look out for each other...
Here at October Books we are all about community. That means we have you at the forefront of our minds :)
We have heard that there are some mixed feelings about the announcement that masks/face coverings will be mandatory in shops from Friday 24th July. It’s a big change for some of us, but ultimately we feel it is a positive thing. And as it's now mandatory, for however long that lasts, and we are going to be tasked with enforcing it, we would really appreciate your support on this - we'd hate to turn anyone away, but you know we would have to.
We want October Books to be a place where people feel welcome, safe and confident that those around them have their safety and best interests at heart… and hopefully leave with some inspiring pages under their arm!
Whilst the team are working on the shop floor we are not required to wear masks/face coverings ourselves, but as an act of solidarity we will be doing so. Whilst we can’t all gather together around the bookshelves as we normally would, showing our respect and concern for our fellow book lovers by wearing a mask feels like a real show of who we are and what we are doing.
We have chosen to help save the planet by using washable, reusable masks - of course! If you’d like to make your own face covering (and save some fabric going into landfill whilst you’re at it!), there’s information here of how you can do so.
If you’re a sewing whizz and have been knocking up masks by the dozen, please do get in touch! We’d love to stock them!
Love from OB Team xx
