Call out for drawings, photos and merchandise!
We at October Books are very proud of our long history of radical book selling going back over 40 years! We’ve been in three different locations and evolved a fair bit over that time. However we don’t feel we do enough to celebrate our history!
We’re looking to create a bit of a history/ memory wall at the top of our tall bookcase in the shop. (As well as long term create an archive of the history of the shop.) But for that we need your help!
Do you have any good photos of October Books or the staff past or present? Negatives or high quality resolution photos are even better as they mean we can blow up the pictures! How about merchandise with our name on it such as bags or bookmarks? Cuttings or copies from newspapers where we feature? Drawings or artwork featuring the shop in one of it’s three locations?
We know so many people have been involved with October Books over the years. As workers, volunteers, members and loyal customers. So we’d love to hear from you! Pop by the shop with anything you can donate to our archive. Post something to us at: October Books, 189 Portswood Road, Southampton, SO17 2NF. Or send us an email to info[at]octoberbooks[dot]org
We’ll be closed this Monday 3rd May for the May Day Bank Holiday!
Then we’ll be back to our our normal open hours of:
Monday - Saturday
10am - 4pm
We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.
We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Keep doing what you’re doing and leave that extra space, sanitise those hands and pull on that mask. We know you’re smiling underneath it :)
You will see we have a QR code at the door, if you have the NHS COVID-19 app downloaded to your smart phone please scan this as you enter the shop.
