Local is the New Global Film Launch

Local is the New Global Film Launch

Local is the New Global is a locally made film which champions the benefits of Doughnut Economics and Community Wealth building and October Books appear as a case study. The film was launched on 17th June at an event hosted by The Southampton Climate Action Network (SoCAN). The event was attended by representatives from Southampton City Council, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, local entrepreneurs and businesses, both our universities, local activist and environmental groups and more.

The film was made by local film maker Paul Maple, with Liz Batten of the Southampton Climate Action Network as the Executive Producer. The film includes an introduction from Kate Raworth and others from the Doughnut Economics Action Lab and well as footage of a number of local Southampton businesses. Have a watch and see what you think. If you are interested in being part of a Steering Group which will take the Doughnut Economics ideas forward in the city then please email sotoncan@gmail.com. Please have a look at their website for other events and activities.

If you want to find out more about Doughnut Economics, we have a number of copies of the book of the same name by Kate Raworth available in the shop.
