Reading Buddy Scheme Graduation

We are so happy to partner with the Widening Participation team at the University of Southampton, on their Reading Buddies, Books and Stories, and Shapes and Numbers schemes and enjoyed attending this year’s graduation for the pupils.

Each pupil who wants to improve their reading is assigned a Reading Buddy, a student from the University of Southampton. When they complete the scheme, the pupils are invited to their graduation at the University to celebrate their achievement.

The University of Southampton buy all the books from us for the children to read as well as prizes for their graduation. This is a brilliant reading initiative in the city and we love being involved. Suzanne attended the graduations and said it was wonderful to see the enjoyment in reading shown by the children and their pride when picking up their certificates and prizes.

This year two secondary schools took part as well as seven primary schools.
