As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, join Val Dowd via ZOOM to hear how an ordinary family adjusted to life with an extraordinary child.
Val will speak about the unexpected highs and lows of living with a child who has profound disability, the unconditional love and kindness of some, and the contrasting situations where the family felt abandoned and bewildered. This book is a challenging, honest and sometimes amusing account of many aspects of the unique world of special needs children, and a celebration of Catherine's love of life, strength of character and ability to defy the odds. Parenting a child with disabilities will completely change your view of the world!.
Val is a palliative care Occupational Therapist at St Michael’s Hospice, Basingstoke and Ambassador for Naomi House Children’s Hospice in Sutton Scotney. She was main carer for her daughter who had complex health needs and profound learning difficulties. This is her first book. Register via Eventbrite for info to join this ZOOM event.
