Happy World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day!

It’s World Book Day this Thursday 4th March! World Book Day is about celebrating and promoting the benefits of reading for pleasure.

Traditionally £1 book tokens are given to schools with the intention of children visiting bookshops to purchase a book of there very own. However here at October Books we know that the children who have the least access to books, are also the children least likely to make a special trip to a bookshop with their parents.

So as part of our community outreach October Books orders and provides books for local schools to make sure the books get directly to the children who really need. This year we’re working with nine schools or educational facilities to provide over 3694 books to schools for free!

Is your child’s school one of those not providing children directly with WBD books? Don’t worry, we’ll also have the new titles and some older ones available for purchase in store with a WBD token or £1. WBD tokens will be valid as long as stocks last this year, because we know lockdown might make it harder for you to come in and purchase your book.

We find these small little books are popular all year round with customers, not just for World Book Day, as lovely little affordable gifts. We’ve know customers buy them for party bags, Christmas stockings or little extra treats or rewards.

We know for many children, this years world book day will be very different from previous years, for them it won’t be a day of costumes and fun book themed activities.

But with the exciting prospect of returning to school soon and the promise of things gradually returning to normal we wish all our customers, young and old, a very happy World Book Day!
