Staff Recommendation - Clarice Lispector Selected Stories
My name is Amelia and this year I have only manage to finish one book, and that was Nicotine by Gregor Hens (it was addictive!) so I decided to venture into the realm of short stories for my next reading fix, and my my did Clarice Lispector indulge me. This phenomenal collection of obscure and restlessly intriguing stories is something I have sunk my teeth into this week, I fear my teeth will be stuck with Clarice forever…
This collection includes ‘Daydream and Drunkenness of a Young Lady’ which is a short story I have been recommended to read since I became, well, a young lady, I must confess I haven’t gotten too it yet, but I will. I needed her warm embrace to light the lamp for me on the way.
‘Lispector's stories take us through their lives - and ours. From one of the greatest modern writers, these 85 stories, gathered from the nine collections published during her lifetime, follow Clarice Lispector throughout her life’ - Penguin
