September Art Exhibition
A slight change from our usual representation from local artists for this month exhibition in the gallery space. We have two exhibitions happening, one raising funds for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and the other hopefully raising some funds for us! Both exhibitions are running at the same time.
The exhibition raising funds for the Wildlife Trust is the work of Michael Flint, a local resident of Highfield and an accomplished artist. Following his death in 2022 his family wanted to honour his many decades of creative output. They put together an exhibition and sale of his paintings to raise funds for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, a charity close to their father’s heart.
Following the first showing of the exhibition at Portswood Pavilion on the August Bank Holiday weekend, Clare offered the gallery space at October Books for the continued display and sale of Michael’s eclectic mix of paintings. All funds raised from the sale of this work will go to the Wildlife Trust.
The second exhibition this month displays the works of a number of artists including: Barbara Rousseau an award winning artist from Lymington, Stewart Mackay a London born artist who painted extensively on the Isle of Wight and Leigh Parry, a distinguished artist from Lincolnshire.. These works have been provided by one of our members and proceeds from the sales will go to October Books.
This exhibition is a drop in event during shop hours. Please check our bookings calendar for hours when the exhibition is available (when rooms are not booked) or call the shop on 02380 581030 for more details.
