Sabbatical reflections
Clare has been back for a full week now and has shared some of her sabbatical experiences with the team. Her first conversations though were of thanks for all the hard work and long hours the team have put in during her absence.
‘I have so enjoyed my time away’ said Clare ‘and as well as a huge thank you to the team, I want to say a massive thank you to one of our members who offered me some time at her holiday cottage in South Wales. The place was an absolute delight, log fires, amazing scenery and some incredible sunsets’
Clare has also been busy in her sabbatical with other Southampton projects, specifically the Southampton Climate Action Network, an organisation that works with others in the city to create a regenerative and thriving city. She has also joined the team at Friends of Itchen Estuary, using her skills and knowledge of the water industry to help them make the Itchen River safe for bathing.
‘It is great to be back at the shop’ said Clare ‘there’s so many people I haven’t caught up with for ages. I am really positive that there are more great things for October Books just around the corner. We really want to shout about all that we do and all that we are, as I know our offering is unique, both in our city and beyond’
