Our hive mind of book buying

As some of our regular customers will know, Jonny our book buyer left us in September 2023 to go and study a PhD in York. His book knowledge and ability to find a book for every customer were amazing to witness. Now he has left, we felt it was the ideal time to set up a Hive Mind of book buying, where our members, volunteers, customers and friends all help us to select the books we have in store, both new titles and our selection of contemporary and traditional classics in all our book sections.

There has been a lot of interest in being part of this group and we feel that this approach really fits with our Community Business status and our desire to be inclusive. The process is still a work in progress and we will keep you posted on how things are going. We are also about to interview for a new book buyer and so once they are in post things will pick up momentum. With community, collective wisdom and co-operation we aim to improve our sales to ensure we are around for another 40 years or more.
