Kids' Silent Disco at October Books, Wednesday 14th August

Now that summer is upon us, we know that the streets and shops and parks and soft play centres of Southampton will be awash with children looking for things to do, and parents trying their darnedest to satisfy them. What can we do, we wondered, to help?

Kids like moving about, and bookshop customers like a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, so we found the perfect solution in a silent disco! For those who are unaware, at a silent disco, all of the participants wear a set of headphones that can tune in to a music source. Everyone can listen to the same music, though we expect to have different channels available. And then they can dance together without foisting their music on the people around them.

This event was conceived as a midweek escape. The Kids’ Silent Disco will be held on Wednesday, 14th August, and sessions will start hourly from 11:30 to 5:30. We are asking £5 for each 45 minute session – an affordable break where kids can get their groove on and adults can relax with a cup of tea or coffee. To book in advance, visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/954894504167, or come into the shop. We may have some tickets available on the day, so if you’re reading this on August 14th, feel free to come by! We look forward to seeing your moves :)
