Join interactive fiction authors Joey Jones and KJ Shadmand in the shop, with Jamie Thomson beaming in via Zoom, to learn more about this unique form of storytelling.
Interactive fiction - stories shaped by the reader - is experiencing a new heyday. Join in a discussion about the gamebook renaissance and recent developments in interactive fiction. This event is for readers and creators of interactive fiction, and will also provide an opportunity for newbies to find out more about the genre.
Joey Jones is the author of Trials Of The Thief-Taker - an interactive historical adventure novel where your choices control the story. Set in London, 1729, before they had police, they had you: thief-takers, hunting criminals for cash! Fire a flintlock and sip gin in the age of powdered wigs. Will you grow rich catching smugglers and highwaymen, show mercy, or become a crime boss yourself?
KJ Shadmand’s debut novel Children of Anshar is a heroic fantasy epic that follows the adventures of a band of friends struggling to survive in a land inspired by Ancient Assyria. The Island of Doctor Moreau – An Interactive Adventure is his re-imagining of the classic nineteenth century work of scientific fiction by H.G. Wells, presented as an exciting adventure gamebook. KJ is currently working on his second adventure gamebook adaptation The War of the Worlds: An Interactive Adventure that he hopes to release in 2022.
Jamie Thomson is a prolific writer, editor and game developer. He has co-authored three written Fighting Fantasy books and co-authored The Way of the Tiger gamebooks, the Fabled Lands books, and many more! He’s also written the hilarious award-winning Dark Lord childrens’ books.
Please register via Eventbrite if you wish to attend so we can manage social distancing on the shop floor, should we need to on the night, and so we know how many people to expect.
