DID YOU KNOW?
By 1979, there were well over 100 Radical bookshops. This includes, with much fanfare and celebration, the opening of our very own October Books, in 1977. Begun as a workers Co-Op by Ian Lamming on Onslow Road, October Books operated as a seller of radical and socialist literature, including magazines such as Radical Philosophy and Socialist Worker. It also functioned as a meeting place for various Radical and social outreach groups in the city, all of which are still fundamental aspects of this place we still call home.
