Book of the week - Brotherless nights
Our Book of the week this week is Brotherless Nights by V. V. Ganeshananthan, released in April in paperback. This historical fiction title tells the story of Sashi, a sixteen year old, living in Sri Lanka with dreams of becoming a doctor. But over the next decade, as a vicious civil war subsumes Sri Lanka, her dream takes her on a different path as she watches those around her, including her four beloved brothers and their best friend, get swept up in violent political ideologies and their consequences. She must ask herself: is it possible for anyone to move through life without doing harm?
An emotional read, a book that will make you weep, but one filled with compassion and deep moral complexity. We would love to hear your thoughts.
