Getting played on 'The Peel Show' on Radio 1. The goal of every new artist. A mad idea? Impossible? But worth a punt? It's what John Williams tried to do for Southampton bands in the early 1980s... without any real experience of dealing with money, business, people and their egos or most importantly, any serious knowledge of actually making a record.
The result? It went straight from avoiding one car crash and headed to another, but that's rock and roll I guess! He’ll be talking all about it in-store!
Richard Williams went to University of Southampton in the late 1970s and went on to work at Rough Trade, EMI, Bronze Records and Beggars Banquet. He was a Southampton City Councillor for 17yrs and is now a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the Energy + Climate Change Dept at University of Southampton.
