Author talk: The Seaborne by Andrew Rivett
Saturday 15th February - instore
Author talk - 3pm - free entry
Join the author Andrew Rivett in the shop to talk about his new novel The Seaborne. It's the first part of a trilogy that's been called 'a parable for our times'.
The climate change imperative is to cut carbon emissions; and the quickest way to do that is to simplify our lives. But what if you found yourself with no option?
This is what happens to John Finlay, a London engineer who runs away from failure and becomes: the Seaborne.
In this novel John travels from disbelief to despair, but finds himself held by people who are willing to teach him their language and the ways of a small community living sustainably and close to the earth. As he finds his feet, he tries to bring them something from our world. But what he brings splits the community wide open.
Find out more, in the shop, from the author (ex-Southampton doctor) Andrew Rivett. There will be tea, coffee and cakes, and a book signing to follow. Please reserve your free tickets in advance to ensure entry.
