Decisions and dreams ... Clare's reflections
This blog describes Clare’s reflections of the last week of October Books work and play, decisions and dreams, plans and perspectives.
‘The week is not yet over but I am writing this now in the hope that I stick to my work days of Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I think all of the team here know that it is all to easy to allow a part-time job to stretch into the week!
This week has seen many of the plans and processes that we have spent time talking about slowly becoming a reality. The team are all now looking at writing up individual plans for the next 6 months and we are starting to add the flesh to the bones of the marketing and promotion plan developed with 92Minutes at our review last week.
We are continuing with our Operation Thrive, a project which combines the talents of all the team with the expertise of the Committee. This week we have made the decision to reduce staff hours by 10% from October. A difficult decision but one which is necessary if we are to return to break even in our operations. The reduction is temporary and will be reviewed in January 2025. Amelia has used her creative talents to come up with a logo in the header of this post. Let us know what you think
I have started some background reading on the Think Like a Forest course that I will start in October. The course is all about helping us to be a regenerative organisation, rather than one with a reactive or problem solving mindset. The team are completing the Impact-Making Mindset Quiz, so we can understand our starting point and I’ll also be sharing some of October books history with the team so that we come to a collective understanding of our roots. This all feeds in to the business being more resilient financially whilst respecting our vision and looking after the wellbeing of all. Exciting times.
