A Happy Statement from October Books!
Hi all!
The eagle-eyed amongst you may have seen our doors opening a crack this past week… a big hello from us…
WE ARE OPEN!
MON / WED / FRI / SAT
10am-4pm for collections
11am-2pm for no-contact browsing
With the rapidly shifting (and often confusing) government advice we are continuing to take your safety, and that of the team, very seriously. So although we are officially open (and believe us we can’t wait to see you!) we are asking you to follow this advice when you visit the shop during our no-contact browsing hours….
TWO CUSTOMERS IN AT A TIME
Please be patient, we are currently allowing two customers (or one household) in the shop at a time
TWO METRES
Please maintain your distance from staff and customers
SANITISE YOUR HANDS ON ENTRY
There is sanitiser for you to use when you enter the shop, or compostable gloves if preferred
ONLY TOUCH WHAT YOU INTEND TO BUY
Please ask staff for information about items you wish to view
CARD PAYMENTS ONLY
Contactless payments preferred, we have no cash on site for change
You’ll be greeted by a member of the team who will be able to answer any questions you might have. And by following this advice you’ll be helping keep both us and you safe.
Other precautions we are taking include - a plastic screen in front of the till; 2 metre markers on the floor inside and outside of the shop; gloves and masks available to all workers and volunteers; strict hand-washing and sanitising routines for all workers and volunteers; regular cleaning of all touch points on the shop floor.
Our community space is still closed to the public, as is our secondhand and sale corridor. We are not accepting any donations of secondhand books at this time.
For those who are still remaining at home, we are still taking, processing and delivering your orders on Monday / Wednesday / Friday / Saturday from 10am to 4pm. We can’t wait to hear from you!
And please keep adding those food bank items to your orders if you can - they are so gratefully received.
The team will be reassessing this on a weekly basis, and when we feel it is the right time to make further changes we’ll let you know. We look forward to seeing you actual faces in the shop soon! Please continue to stay safe :)
