On the 2nd of February, 1922, James Joyce’s Ulysses was published by Sylvia Beech at Shakespeare & Co. bookshop in Paris. Whilst it was banned almost immediately, its position in literature has remained unchanged for a century. Through the relationship between it’s key protagonists, Leopold Bloom and Stephen Dedalus, a radical empathy is established. Ulysses is a novel both of the senses, and of the mind. We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop.
