Out now! December Stories II, by Ian Sansom

In what is becoming something of a Yuletide tradition, Ian Sansom returns with another collection of 31 short stories which encapsulate different perspectives on each day of the most ‘festive’ month of the year. Filled with acerbic wit, heartbreak, joy, and ecstasy, these stories will provide the perfect antidote to December, whether you’re a lover, or a hater! Filled with a kaleidoscopic cast of characters ranging from lonesome mothers to Sourdough entrepreneurs, this hilarious, often insightful collection of stories will make you see your favourite (or least favourite!) month through many different eyes. Beautifully illustrated by award winning artist Fruzcina Czech, and published via No Alibis Press, this is perfect reading for the month ahead, or as a gift on the day!

December Stories II by Ian Sansom

Hardback £10

Ian Sansom is back with another antidote to the festive season with this brilliant collection of short stories, filled with those same emotions we feel year upon year in the most trying and joyous of months – anticipation, frustration, despair and ecstasy. December Stories II will make you laugh, cry and question everything you thought you knew about Christmas, Yuletide, the winter solstice, etcetera. In these stories, Sansom’s vivid and varying characters peel back the many layers of the winter month, from a lonely mother to a guardian angel, a pest-controller to a ‘bar-bar-bar owning brother’ to a baker selling lockdown sourdough kits, these snippets of lives are revealing and beautifully familiar. With the cynical wit and emotional insight we’ve come to expect from Sansom, get ready to fall in love with this mind of winter, and you might begin to wonder, are December Stories becoming a tradition? ‘Happy, Merry, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.’

We are open:

Monday - Saturday

10am - 5.30 pm

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.

We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
