Open Mic Night - Every Third Friday Of The Month From 6:15pm
We started running this open mic nearly a year ago and have now amassed a passionate and enthusiastic group of regulars as well as a great turnout of new people each month.
This open mic night is an accepting and relaxing space to speak as well as to sit and enjoy stories and poems.
Every month I host (Amelia) with my poetry comrade Jack. We are dedicated to making it a space for all to enjoy and something to look forward to every month.
You can drop us an email to ask any questions about the night but here are some FAQs:
How do I sign up?
You can buy a ticket either on the door or beforehand on our events page or Eventbrite. When you arrive on the night I will take your name down and ask you when you’d prefer to perform, later in the evening or first! it is up to you.
How long does each performer have?
I like to keep it to 5-7 minutes for each person, so I suggest either three short poems, two longer ones, or one short story. You are free to perform whatever it is you like, whether that is a poem you love of someone else’s, prose, or a short extract from a book you are working on!
When does it finish?
The night ends around 8pm depending on how many performers we have!
Do you sell food and drink/Can I bring my own?
We do not offer refreshments during the night, however we do have a range of food that we sell in the bookshop but you are more than welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks along.
Here is a picture of two performers from last month, I didn’t manage to catch them performing but they wanted to celebrate with a picture afterwards.
