October Books – Shortlisted for Independent Bookshop of the Year!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we’ve been shortlisted as Reigonal Finalists in the Independent Bookshop of the Year competition - for the second year running!

Organised by The British Book Awards (affectionately called ‘The Nibbies’), the open contest includes awards for Best Independent Bookshop (keep everything crossed for us!), Best Chain, as well as book specific awards such as Best Audiobook, Best Debut, and catagorised awards by genre.

To be shortlisted again this year gives all of the staff, volunteers, and members here at October Books a jolt of energy after an incredibly busy start to the year. We absolutely wouldn’t be here without our beautiful community, our wonderful local authors, and you. By shopping with us, by coming to our events, through chatting at the till, or picking up a bite to eat at Veg Out every monday, you make it possible for us to continue doing the work that is most important to us.

That our work has been validated in a professional capacity simply only motivates us to do more, and to do it better.

Regional and County finalists will be announced on the 26th of March, so watch this space!

We are open:

Monday - Saturday

10am - 5.30 pm

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.

We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
