Meet the Team: Amelia
Name: Amelia (She/Her) Buyer and poetry open mic night hostess
Role: I order everything you see in the shop that isn't a book! including but not limited too- our cards, local makers products, vegan friendly and organic food, as well as a range of toiletries and cleaning products.
Your OB Story: I have been at October Books since 2016 now! I started as a volunteer when I was in my early teens. I was Home Educated which left me with the time to volunteer and become passionate about the places in the city I found interesting, and luckily October books was one of those places.
Passionate About: Poetry, piano and people. I have been writing poetry for a long time and have recently started attending open mic’s such as the one we hold here! One of the reasons I love my work here is that I get to be creative and connect with the local community, there’s never a dull moment and there are always interesting people to talk to.
Recommends: Our open mic night on the third Friday of every month (I am biased because I host it) a place where you can share poems, prose or spoken word, or even a few pages from a book you love. It is open to everyone, so it's a space that is really wonderful to be a part of whether you are performing or not.
