In store now! The Confidence Men by Margalit Fox
Proving that the truth is often stranger than any fiction would dare to be, The Confidence Men is the riotous story of two WWI prisoners, and their attempts to escape from the Turkish POW camp where they fill their days, bored, despairing, and desperate for home.
Out of this boredom, our heroes begin conducting fake seances. Little do they know, however, that these fake seances have fooled the guards, and may well be their ticket out… Spectacular non-fiction from the author of Conan Dolye for the Defense, The Confidence Men is practically aching for a film adaptation. A pacy, unputdownable chapter of our recent history!

The Confidence Men by Margalit Fox
Paperback £9.99
Imprisoned in a remote Turkish POW camp during the First World War, two British officers, Harry Jones and Cedric Hill, cunningly join forces. To stave off boredom, Jones makes a handmade Ouija board and holds fake seances for fellow prisoners. One day, an Ottoman official approaches him with a query: could Jones contact the spirits to find a vast treasure rumoured to be buried nearby? Jones, a lawyer, and Hill, a magician, use the Ouija board - and their keen understanding of the psychology of deception-to build a trap for their captors that will lead them to freedom.

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.
We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
