In store now! Orgy at the STD Clinic, and Racism by Proxy, by Johnny Townsend
Several weeks ago, Johnny Townsend, American novelist and lecturer, reached out to us with a donation of some of his books. A climate change refugee, a lecturer in literature, a gay ex-Mormon - Johnny’s story is itself incredible, without taking his generosity into account. Not to mention the books themselves, which have been listed on Kirkus Reviews Year End lists five years running. We’re so pleased to be able to represent him!
Orgy at the STD Clinic is a novel which examines our primal post-lockdown fears. Todd Tillotson is struggling to move on after his husband is killed in a hit and run attack a year. In this novel set entirely on public transportation, we watch as Todd, isolated throughout the pandemic, battles desperation in his attempt to safely reconnect with the world. Heartbreaking and riotously funny, Orgy at the STD Clinic is that rare novel which manages to be many things all at once.

Racism by Proxy on the other hand, examines racial privelege with a more analytic eye. Pushing past shame, guilt, insults, and other useless approaches to show how all of us can benefit from an increased commitment to equity and social justice throughout our communities. Using his unique perspective, Townsend’s compelling argument leaves no room for doubt.

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.
We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
