In store now! Of Saints and Miracles, by Manuel Astur
What is the raw material of myth? How do mundane interpersonal relationships become the stuff of legend? Manuel Astur’s poetic-crime-thriller, Of Saints and Miracles, answer these questions through the story of Marcelino. Fleeing a terrible mistake, Marcelino runs for the hills - literally - and becomes a folk hero who harkens back to the community spirit of the past to protect himself. Part fable, part crime novel, Of Saints and Miracles is a beautiful exploration of how we survive in a tragic and forever changing world.

Of Saints and Miracles by Manuel Astur
Paperback £12.99
Marcelino lives alone on his parents' farm, set deep in the beautiful but impoverished countryside of northern Spain. It's the place where he grew up, the place where he doted on his beloved baby brother and protected his mother from his father's drunken rages. But when Marcelino's brother tricks him out of his house and land, a moment of anger sparks a chain of events that can't be reversed.
Marcelino flees to the wild peaks of rural Asturias, becoming a cult hero as he evades authorities. Into this unconventional crime story, Astur weaves fables about the sun and the moon, tales of death and love, and reveals a community and a way of life that may soon be lost. Of Saints and Miracles is a sensuous and poetic portrayal of an outcast's struggle to survive in a changing world, and a seamless blend of the tragic and the majestic.

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.
We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
