The OB community continues to amaze!

Do you remember our lockdown crowdfunder?

We asked you to buy October Books vouchers to help us continue to trade whilst our physical doors were shut. This amount was then match-funded by Solent LEP. On 18th June 2020 we successfully raised £7,254 with 110 supporters in 28 days.

We were blown away by your support! But it didn’t stop there…

When we recently reminded people to redeem their vouchers, we added a one-liner suggesting that if supporters were unsure of what to spend their vouchers on… perhaps some of it could go towards items for the foodbank…?

And you said YES.

An overwhelming amount of you decided to spend a percentage (or in some cases ALL) of your OB vouchers on the fairtrade and ethical household goods and groceries that we stock - it made us so very happy. A huge thank you to everyone who did this. You’ve helped support some of the many vulnerable people in Southampton who are needing additional help from the foodbank at the moment, as well as supporting us here at OB.

You are amazing :)

If you’d like to purchase an item for the foodbank when you shop with us at October Books, you still can. We can help you choose if you’re unsure of what is needed, and we’ll even deliver it. Just ask over the counter (or in your online order) - we’d be delighted to help.

Items that are always welcomed include: soap, shampoo, shower gel, jam, tins of beans/tomatoes, treats and snacks, rice, pasta and sauces. All of which can be found at the rear of the shop.
