Bring Your Own Book continues

Bring Your Own Book continues

If you haven’t ever been to a book club and the traditional format doesn’t appeal, do come along to our Bring Your Own Book Club. It’s all about the books you enjoy reading and you get the chance to come along and talk about them. Usually a small group of 5 to 6 people we all share the stories of the books we have read and get to ask questions. It’s a great way to find out about books that you perhaps wouldn’t otherwise pick up.

At our last event Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell,  Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi and Floodpath by Emily B Martin were the books brought along by attendees. Some really interesting connecting themes around the depiction of grief, and how hard it is to write about it well. Sibling relationships also popped up across all three books, and we had a great discussion about what goes into good character description - and what really shouldn't!

Our next event is online on the 27th July at 7pm. Please do sign up here and you will be sent joining instructions.

Order your books today directly from October Books or browse and buy online through our bookshop store and we’ll get commission on your purchase.

We are open:

Monday - Saturday

10am - 4pm

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.

We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Keep doing what you’re doing and leave that extra space, sanitise those hands and pull on that mask. We know you’re smiling underneath it :)

You will see we have a QR code at the door, if you have the NHS COVID-19 app downloaded to your smart phone please scan this as you enter the shop.
