Remembering Andy Cawdell
It is with great sadness that we let you know that Andy Cawdell, committee member and supporter of October Books since his move to Southampton, passed away on 20th June 2022. Andy lost his long fight with Motor Neurone Disease and was remembered and his life was celebrated at a service at Wessex Vale Crematorium on the 14th July
Andy joined the October books Committee in late 2020, at a time of uncertainty and challenge for the shop and us all as we entered the second lockdown. It was a time of uncertainty and challenge for Andy as well as he dealt with the difficult changes and impacts of Motor Neurone Disease. Through this we were lucky enough to get to know Andy and to utilise his vast experience in the charity sector, particularly with regards to finances. Andy had worked with The London Cycling Campaign since the 1980s and had become a campaigner and activist for those with MND since his diagnosis 7 years ago.
His daughter, Melita has set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Here is the link if you would like to donate. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mnd-warriorIf you got to meet Andy and would like to share a memories, anecdote, story or messages, you can do so through this link https://forms.office.com/r/FaAu0793XR . Messages will be collated into a Memory Book by the family
We are open:
Monday - Saturday
10am - 5.30 pm
We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.
We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
