What is a Guest Blog Post?
A Guest Blog Post is when you write a blog post that we publish on our website, with links to your site and social media.
Why do we want Guest Blog Posts?
Firstly, we’re invested in being a community hub and sharing the stuff we really care about. But your Guest Posts can also help us grow. On your own website and social media, you’ll direct your readers to our website for that post. This creates ‘backlinks’ for our site, improving our ranking on search engines too. It’s another way you can support your local, indie bookstore. Everybody wins!
Why write a Guest Blog Post?
In addition to sharing your news with a lot more people, you’ll also get your post in front of all our customers and on our social media. Those readers will then be directed to your site or social media to find more of your content. The links on our website to yours (known as ‘backlinks’) will push your site up on the search engine rankings, improving your web traffic.
What are we looking for in Guest Blog Posts?
We’re interested in a range of topics that are relevant to our community.
For example:
Local events info
Local creators with new releases
A topic you’re passionate about that will be relevant to our community
Book reviews

Requirements
You must align with our radical ethos
You must have your own blog or social media where the post will be linked
Posts must be Search Engine Optimised (not as scary as it sounds, we can help with this!)
The exact content of the blog is not reposted elsewhere
We reserve the right to review and request edits, as well as the right to refuse any content we don’t feel is right for the October Books website
How it Works
Email us at info@octoberbooks.org telling us about your idea for a post. If the post is already written, include it so we can take a look.
If it seems like a good fit for us, we’ll send you our Blog Post Guide on how to format it and make it the best possible
Once the blog post is all ready to go, we’ll post it on our website with links to your site and social media
We’ll also share it on our social media channels
You’ll share the post on your social media
On your site, you’ll also make a post sending people over to the October Books blog to read your post
