A Message to Our Non-Southampton Supporters!
At October Books, we understand that the retail market is constantly and forever shifting, with more commerce happening online than ever before. Whilst we will forever stand by our high-street, and argue for the importance of brick-and-mortar shops which anchor themselves in the community, we nevertheless appreciate that it isn’t always easy for those who wish to support us to make it all the way in through the front door.
Whether you’ve recently moved away, are unable to get out of the house, or simply wish to make better online shopping habits, there is a way you can continue to support us from afar!
Bookshop.org is an incredible resource which provided a much needed lifeline throughout the pandemic. Selecting October Books as your ‘nominated shopfront’ means that a percentage of every purchase you make is donated to us, making it a win-win!
We will be making bi-weekly updates to our lists, too, which means you can keep up to date with all the best sellers, and staff recommendations, as well as exploring and broadening your tastes through our curated lists, such as ‘This Is the New Canon’, which explores classics by non-white authors, or our ‘Books for Nature Lovers’ list.
So whether you’re in Woolston, or Timbuktu, and still wish to support your favourite Radical, Indie Bookshop, you can by following the link below

We are open:
Monday - Saturday
10am - 5.30 pm
We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.
We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
